Travel Baseball Tryouts
Vernon Hills Travel Baseball conducts travel tryouts in July for 9U-14U and in the fall for 8U. Players are evaluated on their hitting, fielding, throwing, and running skills. These evaluations are used to determine team placement or roster selection. The goal is to identify players who show strong fundamentals, potential, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Ages
9U to 14U players.
8U Tryouts will be held in the fall.
When
Tryouts are held in July. They are held over 1 or 2 days. If unable to attend a makeup day will be available.
Where
Tryouts will be held at VHAC.
Cost
There will be a $25 non-refundable tryout fee. If a spot is offered to one of our teams, the fee will go towards your registration fee.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the tryout process?
Players should arrive 20 minutes early to check in and get ready at the appropriate field. Players are escorted around our fields to run through infield, outfield, pitching, running and other position specialty drills.
Are spectators allow in the tryout area?
No, our tryouts are closed sessions. Parents/guardians/spectators will not be allowed in the field area.
When are tryout results communicated?
Tryouts results are typically communicated within 2-3 days after the primary tryout date.
What if my player can't make the primary tryout date?
You can email travel_baseball@vhcbs.com with the conflict and we can discuss an alternate date and time that will occur prior to the primary tryout date.

2026 Season: 9U-14U Tryout
2026 SEASON: 9U-14U TRYOUT
The PRIMARY tryout date for each level will be on Monday, July 7th. Please arrive 20 minutes early to check in. Times are as follows:
9U/10U/11U - 5:30pm - 7:30pm
12U/13U/14U - 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Tuesday, July 8th will be used as a Rainout date. Email travel_baseball@vhcbs.com if you are unavailable on July 7th or 8th.
